META'S NEW AI MODEL CHALLENGES CHATGPT & CLAUDE

By James Mane · October 13, 2026 · 2 min read

Meta has unveiled two advanced artificial intelligence models, Muse Wonder and Muse Wonder Full, as it intensifies competition with OpenAI and Anthropic, the companies behind ChatGPT and Claude.
Announced on October 12, the new models are designed to handle complex professional and everyday tasks, including software development, financial analysis, legal document interpretation and personal assistance. Meta describes them as its most capable AI models to date.
A major feature of the new technology is Active Memory, which helps the models retain relevant information across conversations. Another capability, called Active Focus, enables the AI to continue working on difficult tasks, explore alternative approaches and recover from errors.
Meta Wonder is available to developers through the Meta Model API and Muse Code, while the more powerful Muse Wonder Full is currently available to Muse Code subscribers. Meta also plans to integrate the technology into its Muse personal AI assistant.
The launch follows a major restructuring of Meta’s AI operations and significant investments in computing infrastructure and research talent.
Although Meta’s internal benchmarks indicate competitive performance against leading AI systems, independent evaluations and practical user experiences will be important in determining how the models compare with ChatGPT and Claude.
The launch marks another significant development in the global AI race, with implications for businesses, researchers, developers and everyday users.
